My favorite quote by Martin Luther is this:
“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.”
I think about this quote every spring. I love springtime in Texas. I love to watch the trees slowly begin to be born again. It seems to happen overnight. One day the tree is completely bare and the next you start to see green leaves bursting forth. It’s one of the beautiful processes of nature.
The old must die to make room for the new. This truth is one of the promises of the resurrection.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and believe that He died on the cross for our sins, we are made new. Without the resurrection we would still be our old selves, clothed in our sins, and dying, like the barren tree. Because of the resurrection, because Jesus loved us enough to conquer our sins and death on the cross, we are blooming with new life.
New hearts. New Spirits. New Lives. All because of the resurrection.

‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” – Ezekiel 36:24-26
