Walking a Tightrope

tightrope-walkerLast night my husband and I watched the movie, “The Walk”.  It is an incredible, beautiful movie based on Philippe Pettit’s determination to walk a tightrope across the Twin Towers just after they were built.

He had an incredible, and self-admitted impossible goal, but that didn’t stop him. He knew he wanted to try and he also knew he needed a team to do it. He could never accomplish this goal alone.

I don’t know about you, but I have a list of goals I want to accomplish in my life (and no, none of them involve a tightrope). My goals range from small to large and in my mind, none of them are impossible. Yet, even the smallest goal I cannot achieve alone. I need God.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:13 ,  “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”  That strength to keep having endurance, determination and to keep striving towards our goals come from Him, but we need to invite Him to walk with us. We need to stay in prayer, asking for wisdom and continual guidance, praising Him for each step that gets us closer to reaching our goal.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
