In a love/hate relationship

I am in a love/hate relationship with my Fitbit. I love it most of the time. However, there are moments when I hate it. Those moments come when it buzzes at me to get up and move. I have arguments with it, sometimes even out loud. I tell it that I am too busy, don’t feel well, it’s too hot, or I am too tired. It doesn’t listen.  It just ignores me and keeps buzzing, crying out to feed it. So, I give in.

Why does it bother me so much when it’s just doing its job? Because it’s not letting me decide when the right time to move is.

Isn’t that just like God? If He waited around for us to decide when the right time to move was, He would probably always be waiting on us. He knows the perfect time and buzzes us with Holy Spirit to tell us to get up and move. (Yes, I have had those same arguments about moving with Him, but He is persistent too.) Just read the story of Jonah!

The Fitbit is meant to get you physically healthy which leads to better emotional and mental health. It makes you move. Movement for me means walking and walking to me means time in prayer. Where does this lead me to? Not only physical, emotional and mental health, but also better spiritual health.

God leads us to those things too. Without movement, we become unhealthy and stagnant, not just in physical health, but also in spiritual health.

So, listen to the buzzing and get up and move.
