I was driving to Houston on a road I had driven many times. Only this time I left my house at 5 am. The sunrise hadn’t blessed the area yet and this road was dark and unfamiliar in the lack of daylight. Even the few headlights I saw couldn’t light up the scenery hiding in the darkness bordering the highway.
I left Houston that day to head back to Austin about 1 pm and this time the drive home, on that very same road, would be a completely different experience. No longer hidden in the darkness, a world of beauty having gone unseen, appeared. Surrounding both sides of the highway were beautiful wildflowers. They were there in the early morning, but the darkness had hidden this wonderful secret. Now the light revealed their colorful majesty.
Light has an amazing way of revealing what we may be trying to hide. No matter what we may be trying to hide in the darkness, light will always reveal it. Even if it may be a difficult disclosure, in the end it will be beautiful and the glory of God will be unveiled.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
