Funny to think that a song on my 5k training playlist would spark a devotion. Yet it did.
“I Won’t Back Down,” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was inspiring to me on a different level this morning.
I won’t back down. I will stand my ground.
There is a constant battle against sin and the devil himself. The fight against these things can be exhausting and there is not easy way out. There is only “Rejoicing always, praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances” 1 Thess 5:16-17.
The battles are daily, but we have a God on our side to help every fight, a God who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to us and for us.
We don’t need to back down against the daily battles, we don’t need to give Satan a foothold. We have the armor of God. We have Jesus to fight along side of us.
Don’t back down. Stand your ground. Whatever you are fighting against, remember, you are not fighting alone.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
