For What Do I Wait – Thoughts on Psalm 39

Darkness fell upon us

we scrambled to find light –

light from anything to close the void,

to bring us joy instead of despair.

We continue to seek –

to find light in things and

having faith that they will bring us hope.

We search the earth, but cannot find.

We wait on the things of this world,

hoping they will shine light into darkness,

believing in their power to fulfill,

to make us happy, to give us joy.

We store up treasures on earth, but who will prosper?

The hope we seek, we can surely find in Him.

“And now, O Lord, for what do I wait?
My hope is in you.”  Psalm 34:7
