Anticipating Christmas – AN INVITATION

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:12-14

Jesus was the greatest gift we could ever receive – a gift to show us God’s love.  His birth represents an invitation to all of us to become children of God and heirs to the Kingdom.  It is one of the many promises of God to us. We are His children. The Kingdom belongs to us through Him.  We are invited to be part of it in every way. We can share in the joy of His birth and share in His glory. Jesus Christ, our brother, was given to us as a gift for our salvation.  He is a sign of God’s perfect love for us, His children.

invited

We invited Jesus into our hearts and He invites us to be with Him eternally.  In John 14:2, He tells us that His “Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”  We are invited to live with Him there. That invitation was manifested that night in the manger over 2000 years ago. Extend the invitation to those around you.

If you have already accepted the invitation then I encourage you to invite others.  Start small, if you wish. A simple invitation to come to worship with you can go a long way.
