You hear them breathe,
Knowing they are there.
They have always been there.
Monsters in the darkness of your mind.
Shivering with eyes fiercely shut,
you wish them away.
Still they remain.
Unwelcome. Uninvited.
Hiding in the corners of regrets and memories.
