Our True Home

I have a bad habit of stopping at Dunkin Donuts for coffee on my way into work.  There is someone else that has this habit too. I have never met him in person, but often times I am behind his jeep in the drive-thru.  I know it’s his jeep because the back is covered with bumper stickers of all the places he has traveled.

There is one bumper stickers that stands out to me amidst the chaos of destinations. It’s a simple sticker in the shape of Florida and just says “home”.  This caught my attention right away. I remember thinking, “Wow. This guy has been all over the place, but he know where his true home is.”

As Christians, we know where our true home is as well. Jesus tells us in John 14:1-3:

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”

We are in this world, but not of this world. No matter what roads God takes us down in this life, our true home is with Him eternally.

Life is an adventure, but there is no better destination than Heaven.
